Welcome to our COVID response page. Here you will find all the critical information about how P.S. 233 is changing the way we operate to reduce the risk of COVID infection. We are doing everything we can to make sure staff, students, and families are safe. Please check back regularly, as we will update the information here as conditions change.

We have put safety procedures in place to keep our students and staff healthy.
Masks: Mayor Adams announced that starting Monday, June 13, face coverings will be optional for students in early childhood schools or programs. Anyone who chooses to wear a face covering may continue to do so, and your child may request a mask from their school or program if they need one. Face coverings are strongly recommended for any staff member or student who knows they have been exposed to COVID-19 within the previous 10 days. Wearing a face covering is still required in medical rooms and nurses’ offices. Nurses will have face coverings on hand for anyone entering who may need one.
Hand washing: Students and staff are expected to wash hands thoroughly before and after eating, after using the bathroom, if exposed to body fluids (like saliva or a sneeze), and at other times necessary throughout the day.
Illness: Students and staff exhibiting signs of illness or having a fever of greater than 99.9°F must stay home and notify the school. If your K-5 child tests positive for Covid, it is required that they isolate for a minimum of 5 days and notify the school. 3K and Pre-K students must isolate for 5 days from a positive test.
Directions for local COVID testing: Visit the NYS Coronavirus Find a Test Site to find a test site near you.
