Ms. Slowe ENL Instructor and Response to Literature Teacher
As an English As a New Language (ENL) instructor I create, develop and implement curricula and teaching strategies that are research-based to ensure the progress of my students. I make every effort to keep in close contact with parents via face-to-face meetings, phone conversations, email, text messaging, notices, newsletters, and regular progress reports--all of which are all translated in the respective languages of my students. I provide ENL trips, special events and performances to engage all the fundamental language development skills--listening, reading, speaking, and writing.
For part of each day I serve as a Response to Literature teacher, developing students' understanding and appreciation of various genres of literature, encouraging discussion as well as written responses to texts.
